Courses can be tailored to meet any individual requirements and there are group reductions for 6+ people.

First Aid at Work (FAW) - from £200

Delivered in accordance with the Health & Safety First Aid Regulations 1981

This certificate is valid for three years and is 18 hours in duration- Minimum 3 days, maximum 10 weeks- with sessions lasting at least 2hours.

Course content:

  • Recognise the aims of First Aid
  • Manage an incident
  • Recognise the priorities of treatment
  • Follow the emergency action plan
  • Perform the resuscitation procedure for adults
  • Recognise and manage conditions causing  unconsciousness
  • Perform the secondary survey
  • Turn a casualty into the recovery position
  • Epilepsy
  • Recognise and manage circulation problems
  • Recognise and manage airway and breathing problems
  • Understand the requirements for a first aid kit and reporting of an accident at work
  • Recognise and treat wounds and bleeding
  • Recognise and treat burns and scalds
  • Recognise and treat injuries to bones, muscles and joint
  • Recognise any other serious conditions
First Aid at Work (Requalification) - from £130

The duration of course is 12 hours and is run over 2 days. You must have a valid First Aid at work certificate and it must be taken within 1 month of certificate expiry date.

Course content:

  • Recognise the aims of First Aid

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) - from £75

For situations where an employers assessment of first aid requirements identifies that a full FAW trained first aider is not required. The training should be 1 day in duration (6 hours) or 3-4 weeks duration with a minimum of 2 hours per session.

Delivered in accordance with the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations 1981.

Course content:

  • Understand the role of the first aider
  • Prevention of cross infection
  • Recording incidents and actions
  • Assess situations in order to act safely, promptly and efficiently in an emergency
  • Administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Administer first aid to an unconscious casualty (including seizure)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Administer first aid to a casualty suffering from shock
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
  • Provide treatment for minor injuries
  • Provide treatment for burns and scalds
First Aid at Work +F – from £220

The Forestry Commission Policy recommends those who work in the forestry and arboriculture industries have additional topics and time(approximately 90 minutes spread over the 3 days) added to the standard syllabus of the FAW course (See (FAW) for standard content)

Recommended additions are:

  • Severe bleeding (i.e chainsaw injuries)
  • Crush injury
  • Hypothermia
  • Lyme Disease
  • Suspension injuries

+F is available as a ½ day course for those who have already completed a FAW course in the last 3 years

Annual Refresher Basic Training - from £45

The HSE recommends that first aiders undertake annual refresher training within any 3 year certification period of FAW or EFAW. This is not mandatory or HSE approved. The course is a minimumof 3 hours.

  • Assess the situation in an emergency
  • Administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconcious
  • Administer first aid to a casualty suffering from shock
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleedling
Anaphylaxis First Aid and Epipen Training - from £50

Severe allergic reactions need immediate first aid attention. This course enables first aiders to recognise anaphylaxis and give efficient and effective care to the casualty.

Course duration ½ day.

AED - Automated External Defibrillator Training - from £50

This course will teach the essential skills that an AED operator needs to perform effective resuscitation. Course duration ½ day.

Paediatric First Aid - from £70

The duration of course is 6 hours (1 day) and suitable for parents and people who work with children.

Course content:

  • Understand the principle role of the first aider
  • Assess situations and carry out appropriate actions (including informing emergency services)
  • Administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on a child or baby
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking or having respiratory problems
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Recognise and treat shock
  • Recognise serious illness and take appropriate action
  • Provide appropriate treatment for minor injuries
  • Understand the basic principles of personal hygiene in first aid
Early Years First Aid - from £130

The duration of course is 12 hours (2 days) and suitable for people who work with children. It covers all topics required by Ofsted for child minders and nursery workers.

Course content:

  • Incident management
  • Resuscitation (CPR) – children and babies
  • Unconsciousness, secondary survey, recovery position
  • Airway and breathing problems: choking, allergic reactions, Asthma, croup, drowning
  • Wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Insect bites and stings
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Electric shock
  • Fractures, spinal injuries and head injuries

Aromatherapy - POA

Aromatherapy is the systemic use of essential oils in holistic treatments to improve physical and emotional well-being. Essential oils possess distinctive therapeutic properties, which can be utilised to improve health and prevent disease.

SOME Training Ltd offer specific courses in aromatherapy in pregnancy for midwives and therapists and vary from a one day course to an accredited five day course.
