My background in nursing and midwifery spans 25 years and I still work in this field to date as a community midwife.

I instruct and deliver first aid courses for adults and children for Lantra Awards; I'm also an examiner and Technical Standards verifier for this same awarding body.

I obtained a qualification in aromatherapy in 1996 with the Jill Bruce School of Aromatherapy. I'm presently serving on the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) council which aims to maintain high standards and keep up to date with the latest trends in the industry.

As part of midwifery work I run an established aromatherapy service in our local maternity unit. I also occasionally teach student nurses and midwives at a local university in aromatherapy related subjects. I have teaching experience in other areas related to aromatherapy both nationally and internationally.

I'm also a qualified baby massage trainer, have a certificate in Shiatsu Skill in Midwifery and Level 1 and 2 in Bach Flower remedies. I have also undertaken Instructional Techniques basic training.

I have written various aromatherapy articles for journals and magazines as well as contributing to books on aromatherapy and baby massage.

I am currently chair of the International Federation of Aromatherapists.

I'm a trained nurse and continue to work as a health professional since qualifying in 1980. The past 20 years has focused mainly on orthopaedic nursing combined with community (district) nursing and prior to that accident and emergency.

Qualifications gained in that time include the Diploma in Orthopaedic Nursing, Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice and Instructional Techniques, all of which contribute to a high quality delivery of training courses.

As a Lantra Awards registered instructor and examiner, the delivery of first aid courses has taken on a whole new dimension ensuring there is a genuine interest in the development of others and the benefits it brings to them, (more job satisfaction, confidence, feeling of achievement, greater involvement). In addition to the first aid courses including paediatric first aid, my other interests are in Aromatherapy and I am currently studying for a Diploma in Aromatherapy.

I also have Bach Flower level 1 certificate.

I have a certificate in first response and I AED training and volunteer as a community First Responder.
