The HSE recommends that first aiders undertake annual refresher training within any 3 year certification period of FAW or EFAW. This is not mandatory or HSE approved. The course is a minimumof 3 hours.

Course content:

• Assess the situation in an emergency
• Administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconcious
• Administer first aid to a casualty suffering from shock
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleedling
