The duration of course is 12 hours (2 days) and suitable for people who work with children. It covers all topics required by Ofsted for child minders and nursery workers.

Course content:

• Incident management
• Resuscitation (CPR) - children and babies
• Unconsciousness, secondary survey, recovery position
• Airway and breathing problems: choking, allergic reactions, Asthma, croup, drowning
• Wounds, bleeding and shock
• Insect bites and stings
• Burns and scalds
• Poisoning
• Electric shock
• Fractures, spinal injuries and head injuries
• Other medical conditions: Meningitis, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Sickle cell
• Extremes of body temperature: Convulsions, Heat exhaustion Heat stroke, Hypothermia
• First Aid kit
• Accident reporting
• Dealing with an unwell child
